I knit Brisbane
It’s the first day of winter and knitters, crocheters and crafters all over Brisbane have been busy, very busy.
Take a look around the city today Brisbane – Things are looking alittle cosier out there.
The steamer sculptures in Brisbane Square, Sebastian di Mauro’s Finger sculpture in Eagle Street and King George Square have all been treated to a winter makeover.
As teams of crafters armed with wool began covering the Brisbane CBD last night, Rogue Cosie – ably aided and abetted by the install team from Good Boy Cracky and photographer at large, Karen braved the night air and a 10ft ladder on the Goodwill Bridge. Despite the peril of pushbikes, curious onlookers and the occasional drunk we managed to Yarn Bomb the bollards at the south entrance.
Rogue Cosie wishes to thank Penny and Auntie Marnie for their technical knowhow and Angela, Donna & Helen for good ideas, at just the right time.
I knit Brisbane is a community arts project supported by the Brisbane City Council.

After partaking of an exceedingly large turkey and many dishes made with pumpkin, Rogue Cosie did a quick tag in appreciation and thanksgiving.

Make Way for Ducklings
for Brian
A popular childrens book “Make way for Ducklings” tells the story of a mother duck and her eight ducklings who try to brave the Boston traffic and cross the road. The hero of the story, Officer Michael, gallantly races to their rescue and stops the traffic. Rogue Cosie’s friend Brian (also gallant) is his grandson.

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
‘O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!’ |
Pussy said to the Owl, ‘You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?’
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose. |

|
‘Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?’ Said the Piggy, ‘I will.’
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon. |
